This article will describe how to enable the Carbon Footprint function for your organization, its purpose, and how to use it effectively.
The purpose of this article is to gain complete control and transparency over your carbon footprint.
This feature empowers your organization to identify key areas for reducing carbon emissions and make impactful changes.
With this add-on, you can now track CO₂ emissions across employee expenses and generate automated reports by employee, category, or dimension — enabling smarter, data-driven sustainability decisions.
How do I activate the function for my organization?
To activate this function for your organization, switch to organization mode and go to the Marketplace in the left-hand menu.
Under Functions, you will find Carbon Footprint.
Click on the Carbon Footprint function, and on the right side of your view, you will now see the Activate Service button. Click to activate.
When you activate the function, a window will open where you need to select a start date (month).
This month will be the point from which it will be possible to retrieve data on your organization’s emissions and climate impact.
In this example, we’ll select January 2024 as our start month.
Click Activate after making your selection.
Note: You will not be able to review or export data for expenses made before your selected start date.
Activation is now complete, and you can see the Carbon Fooprint tab in the left-hand menu in organization mode.
Review emissions data
Under Carbon footprint, within the Emissions and Travel tabs, you can review and gain an overview of your organization’s emissions and climate impact. The data presented in this view is sourced from reports found under the Sent and Paid tabs on the organization.
In the Emissions tab, you will find the following:
(Here, emissions are calculated based on the amount spent on expenses)
Emissions by category
The organization's total CO₂e emissions
Which user has contributed the most emissions
Emissions month by month (Can be sorted by category)
Average emissions per expense, month by month
List of the latest added expenses, indicating the emissions generated by each specific expense
In the Travel tab, you will find the following:
(Here, emissions are calculated based on the distance recorded in the mileage and the type of fuel chosen by the user.)
The organization's total CO₂e emissions for travel
Overview of the organization's travel
Travel emissions month by month (Can be sorted by category)
Most emissions per kilometer (Users)
Average emissions per kilometer
Each mileage has a fuel type. Here, a summary of emissions per fuel type is displayed.
Export the organization's data to a CSV file
At the top right of the Carbon footprint view, there is an option to export the organization's data to a CSV file.
To do this, you need to specify the date range for which you want the file to generate the organization's emissions, and then click Export.
Here, you cannot specify an earlier start date than the one set during the activation of the function.
If you click the View exports button, a window will open displaying all previous exports. There, you will have the option to click the three dots to the right of each exported file to either download the file or delete it.
Below, you can see our downloaded example file opened in Excel.
Here, you have the option to filter in the various columns to retrieve the specific data you want.
